Academics

Program Offerings:
Our school focuses on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.  We use the Letterland phonics program in grades kindergarten through third grade.  Guided reading is taught in all grades with Daily 5.  Small group instruction is considered key to student achievement.  In addition, we offer Exceptional Children's Services, Robotics, Battle of the Books, School News Video Production, in-school tutoring, Reading Buddies, Accelerated Reader,  Chess Club, Odyssey of the Mind and community involvement with a local nursing home .  We use the MTSS model (Multi-Tiered System of Support) to meet the academic, social, emotional, and behavior needs of all students. We recently received state recognition for our implementation of MTSS.

Results: 2018-19  Highest performing title one school in the district

Exceeded growth 7 years in a row and continuing to meet expected growth.

Recently received green ribbon award for implementation of MTSS.
