Cool Spring Elementary currently has about 368 students enrolled. Our school population is comprised of 72% White, 6% African American, 13% Hispanic, 1% Asian and 8% Multi-Racial. We have a broad range of socio-economic levels in our school, with 51% of our students on free and reduced lunch.
Our school focuses on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. We use the Letterland phonics program in grades kindergarten through third grade. Guided reading is taught in all grades with Daily 5. Small group instruction is considered key to student achievement. In addition, we offer Exceptional Children's Services, Robotics, Battle of the Books, School News Video Production, in-school tutoring, Reading Buddies, Accelerated Reader, Chess Club, Odyssey of the Mind and community involvement with a local nursing home . We use the MTSS model (Multi-Tiered System of Support) to meet the academic, social, emotional, and behavior needs of all students.
Results: 2018-19 Highest performing title one school in the district
Exceeded growth 4 years in a row and continuing to meet expected growth.
Recently received green ribbon award for implementation of MTSS.
